The Thabo Mbeki Foundation (TMF) would like to congratulate the students of the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (TMALI) who will be graduating this evening. TMALI will be graduating over 278 students, from the 1st semester of the 2017 academic year; this takes the number graduates to 792 since the establishment of the Institute.
As a centre for teaching, learning and dialogue TMALI aims to train Africans for the political, economic, social and cultural renewal of the African continent and its people. This is grounded on the all-Africa policies and agreements through the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and the African Union (AU).
In this regard our mission is to create new African thought leaders who will contribute to the reconstruction and development of the African continent.
We hope that as they assume their new roles as TMALI Alumni, our graduates will not confine their achievements of intellectual and academic excellence to the narrow realm of individual success. Rather they should say to themselves, as did the eminent African poet and intellectual, Aime Cesaire, “…to my body as well as my soul, beware of assuming the sterile attitude of a spectator”.
We wish the 1st class of 2017 all the best!
